Progress informed by the past and inspired by the future
As champions of progress in the cities where we live and work, Citi is helping provide solutions to some of the world's toughest challenges. One of our greatest assets is our people. Mobilizing our human capital is central to our goals of creating shared value and supporting communities where individuals and families can thrive.
Citi employees worldwide use their professional skills, expertise and time by volunteering directly with community partners to promote progress. Citi Volunteers collaborates with employees and employee networks to support a range of volunteer opportunities, from traditional hands-on activities to skills-based volunteering that harnesses the enthusiasm and expertise of Citi's employees. The Citi Volunteers team provides the tools needed to boost existing service projects and also empowers and connects employees with meaningful volunteer opportunities, which often are with Citi Foundation grantees.
Citi employees volunteer year-round, and the establishment of Global Community Day in 2006 has provided an annual opportunity for tens of thousands of Citi employees, along with their families and friends, to come together as a global volunteer team to use their time, skills and expertise to make a difference in their cities. The annual activities focus on a range of local needs - from urban revitalization to environmental conservation to literacy and education. Global Community Day is one of the many ways Citi shows its commitment to the communities where we have a presence.
To date, Citi employees, family and friends have donated more than 3.6 million service hours since the inception of Global Community Day in 2006.

During a Citi Skills Marathon, Citi volunteers work with leaders of a non-profit organization to tackle a business need.
The Citi Skills Marathon enables Citi employees to use their professional skills to address critical organizational needs of our nonprofit partners. A done-in-a-day pro bono model developed in collaboration between Citi Volunteers and the Taproot Foundation with support from the Citi Foundation, the Citi Skills Marathon pairs Citi employees with organizations who need to optimize their daily operations and leads to immediate useful results. Skills-based volunteering activities, such as the Citi Skills Marathon, is one way Citi employees help organizations deepen their impact in communities. To date, more than 600 Citi employees have provided nearly 5,000 hours of pro bono service to over 300 nonprofit partners in more than 10 cities around the world.
