
Chris Kay is Global Head of Venturing and Incubation for Citi. In this role, reporting to Debby Hopkins, Chris and his team partner with Citi businesses around the world to nurture initiatives from concept to launch and to ensure subsequent scaling across the enterprise. They also help develop new organizational capabilities and individual skills that drive sustainable innovation across business units and geographies. In addition, Chris works with key external corporate partners to develop new Citi capabilities that help drive growth.
Among the activities that Chris, his colleagues and partners are engaged in currently is "Ubiquity," a multi-phase project focused through the lens of the customer on redefining consumer banking in Japan by providing new retail and mobile experiences. In another project, they are working with the Private Bank to develop a new model for Citi to service the needs of the "next generation" of our most affluent Private Bank customers. Chris and his team are also actively engaged in building innovation capabilities through training programs in markets globally.
Prior to joining Citi three years ago, Chris was a senior executive at Target, leading several of its most successful growth strategies, initiatives and transformational efforts. Chris started his professional career as a corporate lawyer representing Fortune 100 companies across a variety of areas with a specialty in debt- and equity-based real estate transactions.
Chris has a JD Magna cum Laude from University of Minnesota and a BA in French and Economics from University of Wisconsin-Madison. He, his wife and five children live in rural Connecticut.
