Safe and affordable financial products for families

Working families sometimes need access to short-term loans. Payday loans are popular and form the basis for a $5.8 billion industry here in Texas. Despite their popularity, the APR interest rates can soar into triple digits, putting families in a cycle of debt.

In 2013, we established the Community Loan Center (CLC), a centralized, statewide office that engages nonprofit organizations to operate a safe and alternative solution to payday loans across the state. This allows families to access affordable credit, better manage their finances and plan for the future.

  • 3,400+loans were made to employees in more than 50 workplaces
  • $2.5 million+ saved and 95% of borrowers paid back loans before the due date
