Building Communities United We Serve
As one of the founding sponsors in the Obama Administration's "United We Serve" volunteerism initiative, Citi organized 200 events across the country. The initiative was launched by the First Lady on June 22 and ran through September 11. We were honored when Gary Locke, Secretary of Commerce, specifically recognized Citi and its commitment to the United We Serve initiative.

On November 17, 2007, more than 60,000 Citi volunteers, family and friends, made a difference in their local communities around the world. While many Citi employees volunteer year-round in their communities, Citi's annual Global Community Day brings employees together as a global volunteer team on a single day. Teams around the world worked on a variety of projects addressing specific community needs including literacy, housing, environmental protection, nutrition, and health care.

In this five-minute video, Citi highlights the efforts of over 45,000 volunteers whose efforts in more than 800 projects, in over 450 cities across 100 countries on a single day highlighted the power and diversity of Citi's employees and our unwavering commitment to improving the communities where we live and work.

Local volunteer teams across North America, Asia Pacific, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa worked on a variety of projects addressing specific community needs, including literacy, housing, environmental protection, nutrition, and health care.
