History Citi has been present in Poland since 1991, first through Citibank (Poland) S.A. and then, following the merger in 2001 with Bank Handlowy w Warszawie S.A. (the oldest commercial bank on the Polish market, established in 1870), through Citi Handlowy. Businesses Today, we are one of the largest financial institutions in Poland, employing 6,000 people. We offer an extensive range of corporate, investment and consumer banking products and services. We serve 20,000 corporate customers and 900,000 retail customers through cutting edge distribution channels and a network of over 200 branches throughout the country. The Capital Group of Bank Handlowy also includes the Dom Maklerski Banku Handlowego (brokerage house) and Handlowy-Leasing (leasing company). In 2005, we opened a Center of Excellence in Poland to provide high quality operations and technology services to our entities around the globe. Under the initiative, two Citi public limited companies under the names of Citibank International Plc and Citibank Europe Plc have also established their branches in Poland.
