Roles of an MA
George Chacon
2004 Management Associate
After graduating from Hofstra University in the Winter of 2004, I joined the Citibank Management Associate Program. Since then, I have completed five rotations in Citibank Financial Centers and one functional rotation at Citibank Headquarters in Long Island City, NY. All rotations were tailored to focus on Operations, Service, Consumer and Commercial sales. In the course of these rotations, I had the opportunity to take part in some exciting, impactful projects, while interfacing with many of the senior leaders throughout Citi.
During my Operations rotation, I was in charge of conducting all of the internal audits for the Financial Center. This involved sampling many of our records and analyzing them to ensure we were in adherence with the policy and procedure. I was very excited because it was an opportunity to examine the processes of our branch and determine if we were vulnerable to any losses. While it was a huge responsibility, I learned, in detail, how to protect the assets of our business.
In my functional rotation, I supported our Business Banking Segment. I joined them at a significant time because we were in the midst of shifting our focus to small businesses and realigning our client base. I had the opportunity to work directly with the National Director of Business Banking. My project was to create a handbook to assist new employees in gaining access to all of the resources necessary to perform their jobs. While developing this guide, I was able to interact and network with many of the senior leaders across the country, and at the culmination of my rotation, I presented my work to the National Director.
Citibank’s Management Associate program has afforded me the opportunity to learn and experience many of the functions of our Retail Bank. In addition, we had quarterly informal meetings with senior leaders to discuss our progress and career goals. Not only were my rotations in highly visible locations, but our senior managers always made themselves available to us.
I highly recommend the Citibank’s Management Associate Program.
Our Programs
Full Time program
The objective of the Citibank North America Management Associate Program is to build a pipeline of leadership talent for our Financial Centers. The Program is a two-year structured, rotational program where Management Associates will rotate through our Financial Centers as well as gain exposure to multiple aspects of Citibank North America.
There are two entry points for this program:
- Winter program, which starts in February
- Summer program, which starts in July
The program commences with a comprehensive training program, which is followed by further on-the-job training throughout the rotations. During this time we would expect the MAs to gain technical skills on our products, services and systems, as well as needs-based selling, listening and leadership skills.
The program focuses on sales, operations and management. There are six rotations varying in length from four weeks to six months. Upon successful completion of the program, MAs will be placed in a leadership position in one of our Financial Centers.
This is a fantastic opportunity for MAs to gain exposure to multiple divisions within Citibank, while also having the opportunity to work with management from all levels throughout the rotations.
