Roles of an MA

Luca Rossi
Management Associate 2006
MBA Rotterdam School Of Management

I completed my first rotation in the Internet Banking team at the EMEA Regional Office in London, covering a business development role. The project had to main goals: first, to develop the Internet and mobile banking business across the a cluster of six countries of Western Europe, by maximizing channel’s profitability, online customer experience, product direction, as well as exploiting online acquisition and cross-sell potential. Second, to help out driving the online strategy for the Cards business working closely with the regional cards strategy team. The position required a versatile set of skills to deal with multiple tasks at the same time on a daily basis, and it was the best chance to acquire the helicopter view on our internet business in EMEA.
During this rotation I learned about our complex matrix organization, and the wide spectrum of services we offer to customers in different countries. Interacting with many colleagues, I also saw how our great people’s behaviour reflect our value of collaboration and teamwork across boundaries, absolutely necessary to sustain our growth as a global firm.

Another interesting assignment was the one in Operations at CitiFinancial in Madrid. My project's goal was to increase operational efficiency in processing mortgage applications, from their receipt at our headquarters until their possible acceptance, hence act signature, passing through a complex analysis of customer data and internal credity policy rules.
After three months of thorough analysis to understand operation details, we launched an exciting pilot and after a first transitory month in the test, we were equipped to analyze results and continuously act on the newly proposed process flow to move towards the desired objective.

Several things made me join my Citi MA program. Our company and values, which I truly discovered through my challenging interviews with impressive and highly talented colleagues. The Consumer Group organization and its goals, such as striving to serve our customers better every single day. The diversity of the program, in that we have the chance of exploring different markets and contribute to add value to Citi as well as learning by doing things.
