Latin America and Mexico

Diversity initiatives in Latin America and the Caribbean are managed across the entire Citi franchise in the region and are led by a regional Diversity Committee and Advisory Council. In addition, sub-committees are organized to implement strategic plans, educate and raise awareness, establish network processes, and develop metrics and progress reports. Working together, these groups are making measurable progress in implementing a comprehensive regional strategy as well as establishing in-country initiatives.

Banamex, a member of Citi and the leading financial group in Mexico, offers individuals and institutions a variety of financial services, including commercial and investment banking, insurance, and investment management. Diversity initiatives are managed across all business lines by a dedicated team working in close partnership with business leadership.

Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA)
  • Citi Difference, the operational framework for our diversity efforts in EMEA, was launched in 2002. Led by a cross-business Senior Diversity Committee, five network groups pioneer initiatives from recruitment activities to internal networking and career development
  • Citi Women focuses on positioning us as the Employer of Choice for the best and brightest female professionals
  • Citi Roots out to racial, ethnic and cultural minority groups to promote an inclusive work environment
  • Citi Pride focuses on our ability to attract, retain and develop the best and brightest professionals regardless of their sexual orientation by promoting a safe, supportive and productive work environment for all employees
  • Citi Parents provides forums and workshops, with subject-matter experts, to exchange ideas, practices and strategies on how to balance the demands and responsibilities of family and career
  • Citi disABILITY fosters a work environment in which disabled employees feel included, respected, and valued, and provides support to employees who provide care to people with disabilities

Our goal is to be the leader in the attraction, selection and hiring of diverse candidates to programs available in EMEA. To achieve this we conduct on campus diversity initiatives and presentations, sponsor clubs and societies, and participate in cross-industry initiatives. Our recruiting staff works closely with the Citi Difference networks, advising them on the best recruitment practices and specific diversity approaches.

Asia Pacific

Under the leadership of a regional Diversity Steering Committee, chaired by the regional CEO, and the support of country-based Diversity Committees, Citi in Asia Pacific continues to make progress in promoting a respectful and inclusive work environment. This progress is critical in our efforts to attract and retain the best people in the industry.

Local efforts are managed to ensure alignment with Citi’s overarching corporate strategy on employee diversity: we value a work environment where diversity is embraced, where people are promoted on their merits and where people treat each other with mutual respect and dignity. Around the world, we are committed to being a company where the best people want to work, where opportunities to develop are widely available, where innovation and an entrepreneurial spirit are valued and where employees are encouraged to fulfill their professional and personal goals.

Japan

Citi’s long history in Japan dates back to 1902, and today we have more than 15,000 employees across Citi and Nikko Cordial Corporation in corporate, consumer and investment banking businesses as well as credit cards, consumer finance and brokerage operations. Our investment banking joint venture—Nikko Citi Limitedcombines the unique strengths of Nikko Cordial's and Citi's local and global distribution platforms to provide institutional clients with the best suited financial services.

As part of our efforts to strengthen our franchise in Japan and develop our people to their full potential, our diversity framework in Japan consists of:

  • A Citi Japan Diversity Council, a franchise-level forum of senior managers providing oversight and sponsorship
  • The Tsuzureori (Tapestry) Steering Group, a committee that sets and provides leadership for initiatives, raises awareness, recruits volunteers, and reports progress
  • Friends of Diversity @ Citi, a group of volunteers who work together to promote and implement initiatives
