Business Description

• Global Transaction Services: Citi Global Transaction Services is a leading provider of cash management, trade, securities and fund services, to financial institutions and corporate clients around the world.
• Finance: The Finance Division is responsible for supervising all financial reporting and controls pertaining to the flow of capital into and out of Citi. The division acts as a strategic partner across all our businesses and works closely with many global management teams.
  Yield Book: The Yield Book business creates and sells technology that allows users to analyze risks and potential opportunities in their fixed income portfolios.
• Foreign Exchange Operations: The Foreign Exchange market, also referred to as the "FX" market is the largest financial market in the world, with a daily average turnover of well over US$1 trillion. A true 24-hour market, FX trading begins each day in Sydney, and moves around the globe as the business day begins in each financial center, first to Tokyo, London, and New York.
• Global Credit Center: The GCC assesses and approves specific product risks and analyzes, approves and monitors credit for product-managed clients. It has primary responsibility for the credit risk management of North American-based clients of the Global Relationship Bank (GRB) Banks & Securities, Funds and Investment Advisors Industries and all customers of Global Transaction Services (GTS) that are relationship-managed.
• Commercial Business Group: The Commercial Business Group (CBG) is comprised of three businesses: Commercial Leasing (CitiCapital), Commercial Lending and Commercial Real Estate. The Reconcilement and Control department has the responsibility to reconcile all Cash and Balance Sheet accounts in support of these businesses.
• Global Markets Treasury Operations: Global Markets Treasury Operations provides back office support for CIB Risk Treasury’s trading desks, New York City and Toronto, in the settlement of large dollar money market trades and investments.
• Credit Risk Management Services: Facilitate the credit approval process by providing credit data management, risk policy advisement, and documentation review processes associated with any commercial lending that the firm engages.
• Citi Investment Research: Citi Investment Research is an industry leader in investment research globally. With over 340 analysts covering approximately 3400 companies worldwide, we provide our investing clients with comprehensive research analysis of companies, industries, and the world's markets. 
• Fixed Income Middle Office: Middle Office supports 15 discreet trading desks and 5 branches across North America. Primary responsibilities include trade capture and trade processing of treasuries both domestic and foreign, corporate bonds, loan, derivatives, and structured assets. This department engages with Citi trading desks and clients as well as collaborates with Operations to resolve trade related issues.
• Trade Processing (Fixed Income Operations): Citi is the world’s most premier Fixed Income franchises in the world with major trading and sales businesses. The business is split between various trading, customer sales and Emerging Markets. Responsibilities include: All processing, settlement and control of Fixed Income Product transactions. Assist business with the introduction of new trading, settlement and confirmation methods to support new business opportunities.

Our Programs

Summer Internship

The Citi Buffalo Summer Internship program will span 10 weeks, beginning June 9th and commencing August 15th. Selected interns will be placed on an assignment within one of the eleven groups detailed in the business description. This is a full time opportunity that is Monday - Friday with a competitive salary. 

Training

Summer Interns are integrated as full-time team members and undertake responsibilities within most aspects of the group's business. Additionally, interns will be responsible for ad-hoc projects throughout the course of the program, which they will be required to present at the end of the summer.

Students will possess the following qualifications:

• Program is open to 2nd and 3rd year undergraduate students and 1st year graduate students
• We look for candidates who have a high level of personal integrity, commitment to excellence, high level of energy, and a strong desire to learn
• Must have a 3.2 GPA or higher
• Concentration in business related studies
• Effective written and oral communication skills
• Strong analytical skills
• Advanced Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access in a windows environment
• Excellent interpersonal skills needed to interface with individuals at multiple levels of the organization
• Must be able to work effectively in a team environment under changing business conditions
• Leadership potential

Recruitment Process

Summer Internship Program 

Citi’s Summer Internship program begins the recruiting process in February. During this time, students can apply for opportunities via this website. Once all resumes have been collected and reviewed, interviews will be scheduled and take place at Citi’s CrossPoint facility. Candidates are hired and placements are determined based on business need, student interest, as well as skill-set.

Below is a timeline of the recruitment process:

Stage 1: Submit your application on the website
Stage 2: The deadline to accept applications is Friday, March 21, 2008
Stage 3: Citi will review and screen resumes for interviews
Stage 4: Citi will conduct interviews at 540 CrossPoint Parkway, Getzville, NY 14068
Stage 5: Immediately following interviews, round table discussions are held to determine offers
Stage 6: Recruiting team will extend offers.
