Citigroup Announces Acquisition of Japan Diners Club
Tokyo — Citibank Japan said today that Citigroup has reached agreement with The Fuji Bank Ltd., Japan Travel Bureau and other shareholders to acquire 100% of The Diners Club of Japan Inc. which was established in 1960.
Citibank is recognized as a leader in retail banking in Japan, establishing a reputation for innovative investment and banking services among their more than one million Japanese customers. The Diners Club of Japan Inc., Japan's first charge card, has grown to be one of the preeminent names in retail financial services here. The acquisition of The Diners Club of Japan unites two of the most powerful brands in the financial services industry in Japan and offers the customers of The Diners Club of Japan unprecedented access to a wide range of banking and investment services under the Citigroup umbrella.
