Jorge Bermudez, Citibank Executive Vice President and e-Business CEO, will head the Corporate Bank for Latin America and the Caribbean
New York, NY Citigroup (NYSE: C) today announced that Jorge Bermudez, Citibank Executive Vice President, will head the Corporate Bank for Latin America and the Caribbean. He will hold this position while maintaining his role as CEO of Citibank’s e-Business franchise worldwide.
Mr. Bermudez will be assuming the position previously held by Michael Contreras, who has been appointed Global Relationship Bank Head for Emerging Markets, a position that will focus on serving the needs of global corporate customers that have a local presence in Citibank's Emerging Markets countries.

Mr. Bermudez is a member of the Citigroup Management Committee. His experience in Citigroup dates from 1975 when he joined Citibank New York as an executive trainee. Mr. Bermudez has held a number of positions including Head of the Agri-Commodities business in Houston, Unit Head of Institutional Recovery Management, Corporate Bank Head in Venezuela, Senior Credit Officer for the Corporate Banking division in North America, Head of Credit Policy for Latin America, President of Citibank Argentina, and Head of the Latin American South Division.
In April 1998 he was named Executive Vice President and Global Cash Management and Trade Head. In April 2000 he was given the responsibility for the creation of Citibank’s global e-Business franchise.
He has served on the Board of Directors of the FEMSA Group (Mexico); Siembra, Argentina; the Association of Argentine Banks and the Columbia University Business School’s CEBIZ. He is Steering Committee Chairman of the New York Clearing House. He holds graduate and undergraduate degrees from Texas A&M University.
