Statement by Sanford I. Weill on Walter Wriston Receiving U.S. Presidential Medal of Freedom
 
New York — Sanford I. Weill, chairman of Citigroup, today gave the following statement regarding the announcement that Walter B. Wriston, former chairman and chief executive officer of Citicorp and chairman of President Reagan’s Economic Policy Advisory Board, will receive the U.S. Presidential Medal of Freedom—the nation’s highest civil honor.
 
Mr. Weill said: “The honor Walter Wriston receives today is a testament to his vision, leadership and commitment to free markets, which have meant so much for Citigroup, for our industry, and for the global marketplace. We congratulate Mr. Wriston for this honor and thank him for being a true financial services pioneer.”
