Asia: Citigroup Wins Best Bank Award from Finance Asia
One of Asia’s leading monthly capital markets magazines has awarded Citigroup best bank of the year for Asia. Finance Asia picked Citigroup as Asia’s best bank of the year for 2005 with the announcement made on the company’s web site today.
The award caps another impressive year for Citigroup in Asia, which has dominated in areas ranging from cash management through to syndicated loans.
Key transactions over the year on the debt side included leading sovereign bonds for Pakistan, Indonesia, Korea and the Philippines and syndicated lending on key transactions such as Taiwan Broadband, Kingboard Chemical, Johnson Electric and CNPC. Equity highlights included Asia’s largest GDR in 2005 for Hynix Semiconductor and a roster of key M&A deals including CNPC’s acquisition of PetroKazakhstan.
“It is thanks to this across-the-board strength, that Citi remains the franchise against which all other Asian banks benchmark themselves,” said Finance Asia in the write up on the award.
