Citi Cards Presents $20,000 from the Citigroup Foundation to 3 Community Organizations

Meridian, ID – On behalf of the Citigroup Foundation, Tod Wingfield, Citi Cards Site President, presented checks totaling $20,000 to three community organizations. “In addition to the substantial volunteer hours our employees share with non-profit organizations each year, we are proud to support this community with funds that go directly to helping those who need it the most. This is the second year the Citigroup Foundation has awarded money to Idaho non-profit organizations. Last year we made one award and this year, because of increased funding from the Foundation, we are pleased to be making three awards”. Meridian Mayor Tammy de Weerd and more than 150 Citi employees attended the presentation.

A $10,000 grant was presented to Boise Valley Habitat for Humanity for work on the 2009 Cribbens Street build. Executive Director, Ken Nichols, accepted the check and said, “This donation is a great example of Citi Cards partnership with the community. Their help is instrumental in allowing us to complete this home on schedule for the benefiting family.” This grant also supports the Meridian School District’s high school vocational education program. As part of the curriculum, students work daily on the Cribbens Street project and have an opportunity to learn all aspects of the home building process.

A $5,000 grant was awarded to the Meridian Boys and Girls Club for their Fine Arts Program. Colleen Baga, Chief Professional Officer from Boys and Girls Clubs of Ada County, remarked, “This $5,000 grant will provide an opportunity for kids from the ages of 6 to 18 to explore a broad range of art history and education. We appreciate Citi Cards support of the youth in our valley.” The Fine Arts Program will encourage club members to develop new skills and talents, express themselves and expand their individual creativity through work with clay, paints, chalk, metals, ceramics and much more.

The Citigroup Foundation also awarded United Cerebral Palsy of Idaho a $5,000 grant for their Early Intervention Program. This program assists preschool children with disabilities and helps prepare them for school and overcoming physical and learning limitations. Lynn Cundick, Executive Director, accepted the check.

Citi Cards, the largest provider of credit cards in North America, employs more than 1,400 people at their call center in Meridian. The facility is one of more than 30 Citi facilities in North America that service nearly 120 million credit card customer accounts.
