Citi Uruguay Donates to IPRU Microentrepreneur Program

Citi Uruguay recently gave the Instituto de Promoción Social del Uruguay (IPRU) authorities an annual contribution for their microentrepreneurship program.

IPRU is a non governmental organization created in 1965 that works from a local development perspective for the social promotion of the most vulnerable groups of the Uruguayan society. The organization does this through the provision of educational services for girls, boys and young people at social risk (e.g. schooling support, workshops on self-expression, vocational training, efforts to insert people in the labor force, counseling and treatment of addictions, etc).

IPRU provides training and credits for microenterprises led by people who experience difficulties in participating in the labor market. The organization also supplies financial services for the housing improvement projects for those that do not meet basic housing needs; and carries out additional educational services that aim at achieving equal opportunities for both men and women.

"With this support, Citi Uruguay strengthens the relationship with the Uruguayan community, supporting women of all ages, and giving them opportunities for growth and job stability,” said Daniel Varese, Citi Country Officer of Citi Uruguay.

Since 1915, Citi Uruguay has maintained a big commitment with the Uruguayan society. A fundamental pillar of Citi’s philosophy is to be close to the community, providing support to education, culture, and health to the country.
