Citi Luxembourg Launches "Green Week" in Partnership with VALORLUX & Greenpeace

Citi to Raise Staff Awareness of Problems Related to Global Warming

From Monday, October 1 through Friday, October 5, 2007, Citi Luxembourg will be holding a "Green Week" in its offices, in partnership with two high-profile ecology organizations: Greenpeace, one of nature's most important and fervent defenders; and VALORLUX, the Luxembourgish organization responsible for managing household packaging waste.

On May 8, 2007, Citi announced that it would be dedicating $50 billion to world climate change over the next ten years, via investments, funding and a range of other activities. Marc Pecquet, Citi Country Officer Luxembourg said, "Citi intends to support the use and expansion of alternative energies and clean technologies, both within the company, and with its clients and the various markets in which Citi is active. In Luxembourg, we are already keen to do our bit."

As a part of this strategy, Citi Luxembourg decided to launch Green Week to raise awareness of the problems related to global warming among its 300 employees. The event's two partners, Greenpeace and VALORLUX, will be present throughout the week to explain to employees how to save energy and manage their packaging waste better. The two organizations will also have a permanent stand offering information, advice and leaflets. Advisors will also be on-site to help staff and answer any questions they may have.

In addition, there will be a competition within Citi Luxembourg to reward the most "environmentally responsible" employee. They will be asked questions about how they save energy, what they can do to help the environment, and how they can best manage their household packaging waste. The winners will receive a €100 voucher to spend in organic shops and in Naturata supermarkets.

Finally, and still with the aim of protecting the environment, Citi Luxembourg has signed an agreement with Cegedel so that beginning on October 1, 2007 it will be able to benefit from "nova naturstroum," which is 100% green energy generated from renewable sources such as water, wind, sun and biomass, and which is therefore completely free from CO2 emissions.
