Citi Certificate in Applied Financial Services’ Students Graduate in Landmark Academic Program

First-to-Market Course Maintains Citi's Leading Role in Training & Professional Development of Employees

Dublin – On Wednesday, October 17, 2007, a premier group of students graduated from the Citi Certificate in Applied Financial Services program.

Just over a year ago, Citi and the Institute of Bankers in Ireland launched the Citi Certificate in Applied Financial Services program. This one-year, third level academic program was specifically designed to provide students with a generic overview of the financial services environment as well as the specific cash, trade, treasury, securities & funds administration products and services provided to Citi's customers.

Citi provided the funding for employees undertaking the course. The course is fully accredited by the Institute of Bankers in Ireland and, through University College Dublin (UCD) is part of the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS). The Citi Certificate in Applied Financial Services is the first bespoke program of its kind for any company in the financial services industry in Ireland and can provide a stepping stone for those wishing undertake further undergraduate studies through the ECTS system.

At today's graduation ceremony, 78 graduates received their certificates. Speaking at today's ceremony, Aidan Brady, Citi Country Officer of Ireland said, "I congratulate today's graduates as you are the first to complete this program of study, the first of its kind in the marketplace. Citi is committed to providing innovative and relevant professional development courses for our employees and maintaining our operations in Ireland as a centre for excellence. We will be building upon this program with the launch of further study programs in the near future."

Anthony Walsh, Chief Executive, The Institute of Bankers in Ireland said, "The Institute of Bankers is pleased to have had the opportunity to work with Citi to create an accredited educational program tailored to the needs of Citi staff. It provides the educational foundation for a successful career within Citi while also providing a 'ladder-of-educational-opportunity' to a wide range of Institute of Bankers, and UCD awards. We would hope that participants will have been spurred on to pursue further studies in banking and financial services, which in turn will enhance their career prospects in one of Ireland's most vibrant industries."

The Citi Certificate in Applied Financial Services was developed by the Citi Learning & Development Center in Dublin, in conjunction with the Institute of Bankers in Ireland. This first-to-market program is being rolled out in the U.K. for Citi employees and will eventually be available to all employees across the EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) region. There were 78 graduates at today's ceremony and there are currently a further 180 employees studying the course.
