Fomento Social Banamex Reveals Results of 1X1 Program for Tabasco Flood Victims

Mexico City – During today's visit to the State of Tabasco by Mr. Enrique Zorrilla Fullaondo, the CEO of Banco Nacional de México, Fomento Social Banamex informed the community, and in particular to those who have deposited their donations in the Banamex Account number 120 branch, 100, which was especially opened to receive the resources to support the flood victims in the state of Tabasco, that 40 million pesos have been collected so far including donations of the Fundacion Alfredo Harp Helú and Fomento Social Banamex, according to the terms of the 1X1 program that started just last week.

Created in 1997 in Mexico, the 1X1 program is a way to raise more funds and with them, support the victims who live in zones affected by natural disasters. For every peso donated by individuals, Fomento Social Banamex A.C. and in this case, the Fundación Alfredo Harp Helú A.C. Foundation contributes another peso to double the sum raised. A maximum amount is set, and after that amount the funds will no longer continue to be doubled, even though citizens are invited to continue depositing their donations in the same account.

After the first initiative, the program has supported victims of more than 21 natural disasters in 20 states in Mexico, and the funds collected so far amount to 600 million pesos.

Additionally, and different from other similar efforts, Fomento Social Banamex carries out the fund raising campaign, detects the specific needs of the affected populations, directly distributes the resources, and provides an accurate follow up of the resources to ensure they comply with the assumed responsibilities.
