Tremendous Success of Citi's Second Annual Global Community Day in Poland
Warsaw The culmination of the Citi Global Community Day took place on November 17, 2007 as 1,600 volunteers participating in 71 projects across Poland helped 30,000 people in need. All volunteer projects were coordinated by the Kronenberg Foundation at Citi Handlowy.
The Citi Global Community Day already in its second year is an international employee volunteer program aimed at helping local communities. Thanks to this program, the Bank's employees can share their knowledge and experience with the needy. The program inspires employees to engage in community service, facilitates access to volunteering offers, helps them implement projects through training and consultation, and promotes a pro-community spirit.
In this year's Global Community Day, the Bank's employees from 36 towns and cities in Poland submitted 51 projects. Citi Handlowy committed over PLN 240,000 for the implementation these project. Special mentions were given to 6 projects, "My Room = My World", "The Past and The Future – Our Combatants in Berlin", "Adventure in Warsaw", "The Charm of Brass Bands", "Health Education for Women in Braniewo", and "A Smile for Carpe Diem". *
On the day of the as part of the financial education program, the Bank's volunteers organized educational workshops for 8-year-olds aimed at teaching kids how to manage money.

Sikora, CEO of Citi Handlowy. "That's also an enormous success of our Employee Volunteer Program. We believe that modern philanthropy in not only financial support but first of all the volunteering of time and talents to make a positive difference in our communities".
The Employee Volunteer Program is operated by Citi Handlowy through its Kronenberg Foundation. For 11 years the Foundation has provided assistance for programs promoting the public good in the areas of financial education, promotion of entrepreneurship, preservation of cultural heritage, and local development. The Kronenberg Foundation delivers such programs as "My Finances", "A Week For Saving Money," and "The Professor Aleksander Gieysztor Award", which is granted for outstanding contribution to the preservation of cultural heritage. The Foundation also offers support to non-profit organizations in two main areas, education and local development. During the 11 years of its operation the Kronenberg Foundations has made over 1,150 donations.
The Employee Volunteer Program at Citi Handlowy was named the "Best in Poland" and twice was awarded in the Colors of Volunteering Competition.
Description of Selected Projects:
My Room = My World – The aim of the project was to make the dream of the disabled Damian about a nice room come true. There are weeks when Damian's room becomes his whole world and his parents and friends, who come to visit him, are the only contact with the outside world. As part of the project, volunteers renovated the boy's room, put together furniture, installed a board, purchased books for Damian. They also took the boy to basketball game, organized a program on the regional radio promoting volunteerism.
The Past and The Future – Our Combatants in Berlin" – the aim of the project was to take Polish combatants to Berlin, to show them the city and to change their attitude: to cultivate patriotism and memories of the past events. Volunteers organized a trip to Berlin for 45 combatants from the General Mieczyslaw Boruta-Piechwicz Care Center for Senior Citizens "Dom Kombatanta".
Adventure in Warsaw – Volunteers organized a trip to Warsaw for the children from the care institution for children and young in Debinki. They took children to the ZOO, to the "BAJ" theatre and to Kolorado fun center. Teenagers went to the Museum of the Warsaw Uprising, to a movie theatre as well as they went bowling to HulaKula.
The Charm of Brass Bands – The aim of the project was to promote the culture of music among the children in Wschowo. Volunteers purchased musical instruments for the Children Brass Band "The Charm of Brass Bands" at Stowarzyszenie Kultury Ziemi Wschowskiej.
Health Education for Women in Braniewo – The aim of the project was to offer the women living in Braniewo free medical tests. Volunteers organized a mobile mammography, cytology and blood bus.
A Smile for Carpe Diem – As part of the project volunteers helped the disabled form the Carpe Diem Association from Radzyn Podlaski to make utility items (Christmas decorations, Christmas cards, bags for presents, balls, clay items). Then the items were sold among the employees of Citi Handlowy and their friends. The funds raised in this way will be used for the care and rehabilitation of the disabled.
