Citi Honored with Distinguished Corporate Stewardship Award from the Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce
Meridian, Idaho Citi will receive the 2008 Distinguished Corporate Stewardship Award, large business category, today from the Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce. This award showcases the most innovative and measurable ways corporate entities contribute to the economic and social structure of the local community by employing solid corporate ethics and values, investing in society and engaging employees in volunteer efforts. Laura Cobb, Vice President of Community Relations, will accept the award on behalf of Citi employees at the Chamber's 122nd Annual Meeting at 11:30 a.m. on February 6th at the Boise Centre on the Grove.
Honorees were selected based on the following criteria:
- Corporate ethics and values
- Corporate engagement in the communities in which the company operates
- Strategic corporate investment in society
- Personal leadership in corporate stewardship

"Citi employees give generously of their time, talent and treasure and we are proud of their engagement and enthusiasm." In addition to the substantial volunteer hours, Citi supports the community with funds that go directly to resolve issues facing a growing community. Wingfield continues, "We invest in solutions that are going to have a long term effect on the health, safety and economic vitality of our community. Operating in a thriving environment is good business for everyone."

Citi offers a robust Volunteer Program that encourages employees to get involved.
- The Volunteer Day provides a paid day each year where employees can volunteer for an eligible non-profit organization that fuels their individual passion.
- The Volunteer Incentive Program recognizes employees who devote their personal time to community service by financially supporting the eligible non-profit organization with a $500 grant from the Citi Foundation after 50 hours of service.
- The Matching Gift Program encourages U.S. Citi employees to give financial aid to qualified non-profit organizations to support local communities and the Foundation will match, dollar for dollar, eligible employees' contributions between $50 and $1,000 per calendar year.
Citi Cards, Smith Barney, CitiFinancial and Primerica employ approximately 1,600 people in the Treasure Valley. Citi's employee volunteers teach Financial Education classes, raise funds for March of Dimes and United Way of Treasure Valley, plant trees on Arbor Day with students at Meridian Elementary School, paint houses and rake leaves on behalf of Neighborhood Housing Services, partner with Junior Achievement to teach business ethics to high school students, contribute thousands of pounds of food and school supplies each year, and crochet caps for Chemo patients at local hospitals, to name only a few of the projects employees have worked on.
Last year Citi employees volunteered approximately 6,000 hours to non-profit organizations in the Treasure Valley to solve problems, improve lives, and connect to others. "Through Citi's volunteer efforts and financial contributions, we are dedicated to creating positive sustainable change in the Treasure Valley," said Cobb. She continues, "Truly, our employees are the neighbors we all want to have."
