Citi Panama Participates in Inauguration of New Community Youth Center
Panama City, Panama On February 12, 2008, the Council of the Private Sector for Educational Assistance, (CoSPAE), officially introduced the facilities of its new Youth Competitive Institute (ICJ) to the Panamanian community. This institute, which looks to promote the integral development of teenagers and young adults through fortification of human, citizen and technical skills, counts with the support of 11 founding partners. The partners are key companies and foundations that recognize this initiative is a valid alternative for the thousands of Panamanian young people looking for an opportunity.
The inaugural act was organized by Maribel Kodat of Bazan, Honorary President of the Institute, Modaldo Tuñón, President of the CoSPAE´s Board of Directors, and two beneficiaries of the Youth Improving Communities Program (YICO), a program financed by Citi Foundation, the Social Service Patronage and CoSPAE.
During the event, CoSPAE signed agreements of collaboration with important organizations, including, Youth Employment Summit (YES), Infoplazas A.I.P. and Leadership Technologies. These alliances will contribute significantly to the formation of the individuals who attend the ICJ.
In addition, the founding partners revealed the plaques recognizing their contribution to the Institute. Citi Foundation's commemorative plaque was unveiled by John Rozo, Vice-President and Director of the Consumer Bank for Citi Panama.
The event was attended by over 100 individuals. Jose Canto, one of the beneficiaries of the YICO program, entertained the group with a musical performance on the flute.
