Pakistan: Citibank Campus Drive 2008

"Are you Ready for a Career with Endless Possibilities?" is the theme that Citibank, N.A. Pakistan (Citi) adopted for the 2008 campus drive. Citi Pakistan is committed to have a strong campus dialogue at all the major business schools in line with its belief that building a broad awareness about the organization is a smart investment which helps in attracting good talent. According to a survey conducted in 2007 Citi is ranked among the top five most preferred employers in Pakistan.

On February 20, 2008, the Recruitment Team at Citi organized a campus drive at the Institute of Business Administration for BBA and MBA classes. This provided the students a chance to interact with Citi's senior management.

The campus drive was divided into two phases: Phase I: Counseling sessions with students and Phase II: Discussion with Ahmed Aftab (Country Business Manager) and Pouru Sidhwa (Country Human Resource Officer).

In Phase I, students had the opportunity to attend one of the two sessions: Career Counseling and Resume Writing/Interview Techniques.

Both the sessions were very interactive. The students found these sessions beneficial as the speakers had some sound tips to share.

In Phase II of this program, Aftab Ahmed provided a complete overview of the Consumer Banking sector. Aftab talked about different departments within the Global Consumer Group. He also emphasized on how Citibank believes and focuses on meritocracy. His discussion was inspirational for the students. The session ended with Pouru Sidhwa's presentation in which students learnt about careers with Citi and got an overview about the management trainee and the summer internship program.

Pouruchisty Sidhwa, Country Human Resource Officer, Citibank, said: "I was delighted to see the high level of energy and enthusiasm within the student population and we are keen to have many of them entertain career options with us."

The presentation was followed by a question and answer session. Students asked various questions about the training programs, recruiting procedures and future prospects. Feedback received from students and the IBA Placement Officer was both positive as well as constructive.

Citi has had a presence in Pakistan for the past 45 years and has been actively involved in the development of the local financial services sector including talent and human resource development. It has been cited as employer of choice in Pakistan and is ranked among the top five most preferred employers in the country.
