Poland: Citi Handlowy Launches Innovative "Send Cash" Money Transfer Service

Warsaw – Citi Handlowy is launching an innovative service "Send Cash." The customers of the bank will be able to send cash by postal order to a recipient in Poland. A promotional campaign starts in early April – all postal money transfers ordered via the Internet until the end of May will be free of charge.

Citi Handlowy is consistently expanding its product offer. Now it launches a new service called "Send Cash" – fast and convenient postal money transfers. Thanks to "Send Cash," the customers of the bank are able to send cash directly to all recipients in Poland, including those who do not have a bank account. It turns out that as many as 49% of Poles say that they do not use a bank account (Millward Brown SMG/KRC "Customers of Banks in Poland," 2007). "The ‘Send Cash' service is a competitive solution that, thanks to its simplicity and functionality, will certainly satisfy the needs of our customers. It's also a perfect solution for Poles who live and work abroad and often send cash to their relatives in Poland," said Remigiusz Holdys, a director responsible for accounts and banking products for retail customers at Citi Handlowy.

Customers who want to send cash directly to the recipient's door should have a bank account with Citi Handlowy. If they live and work abroad, for example in the U.K. or the U.S., they can use instant Citibank Global Transfers and transfer cash between their accounts abroad and in Poland in real time. Such transfers from six EU countries are fee-free. Then, the holder of the account with Citi Handlowy should specify the recipient and order a postal money transfer for the cash to be delivered to the indicated address in Poland by the Polish Post employee. A postal money transfer can be ordered by calling CitiPhone or via Citibank Online (the service will be available via Citibank Online as of mid-April). The customers living in Poland can also do this transfer process by visiting a Citi Handlowy branch. "The procedure of making a postal money transfer under the ‘Send Cash' service does not differ from the procedure of making an ordinary money transfer. Customers do not even have to leave their homes to do it. What's more, our relatives to whom we send cash do not have to worry about collecting it – a postman will deliver the cash to their doorstep," adds Remigiusz Holdys.

The cost of the new service at Citi Handlowy is PLN 11 plus 1% of the transfer amount. The modern postal money transfer is free of charge for all customers who will order the "Send Cash" service via the internet by the end of May.
