Citi Peru Sponsors "Skills for Success" Apprentice Program for High School Students
Lima, Peru – Citi Peru executives and "Skills for Success" participants gathered to celebrate the completion of the very successful three-week apprentice program. The program, developed by Junior Achievement, is designed to encourage high school students to understand the positive correlation between achievement in school, their career options, and future employment.
In February, 12 students, from a number of schools in Lima, joined the Global Consumer Group sales team and were submitted to a rigorous program of induction, training, business meetings and field work. Additionally, participants learned fundamental skills such as communication and teamwork, and were exposed to work situations in the real world. The results obtained exceeded all expectations.
For participant Antonella Puntriano, her experience was as equally positive as it was unforgettable. "These past weeks I learned a lot about the bank and its products, especially in the credit card arena. I also got the chance to interact with senior management, and most importantly, I realized what I will study in the future." This intern was awarded by the sales team for reaching out to the highest number of prospective clients.
During the closing ceremony, Federico Elewaut, Citi County Officer for Perú, reflected with the participants how to face responsibilities in their future as professionals, as well as reaffirmed Citi’s commitment to the community: "We sponsor initiatives aimed at promoting the personal development and the professional skills of young students," he concluded.
