Poland: Citi Handlowy's Innovative "Send Cash" Transfer Service Now Available via Internet

Warsaw – Citi Handlowy's innovative service called "Send Cash" is now available via the Internet. As of today the bank's customers do not even have to leave their home to send cash by postal order to any recipient in Poland. At the same time, a special promotion has been launched – all postal money transfers ordered via the Internet until the end of May are free of charge.

Citi Handlowy is consistently expanding its product offer. In March it launched an innovative service called "Send Cash" and now the bank is offering a new functionality aimed at improving the efficiency of day-to-day lives of its customers – a possibility to order a postal money transfer via the Internet.

"The ‘Send Cash' service is a competitive solution that, thanks to its simplicity and functionality, will certainly satisfy the needs of our customers. Thanks to the fact that the service is now available via Citibank Online, the customers of Citi Handlowy are able to send cash, fast and without unnecessary formalities, straight to the recipient's door," explains Remigiusz Holdys, a director responsible for accounts and banking products for retail customers at Citi Handlowy.

With its "Send Cash" service Citi Handlowy strives to meet the needs of those customers who send cash by postal order because the people they send money to do not have a bank account. In the latest report of Millward Brown SMG/KRC "Customers of Banks in Poland" (2007), Citi noted that as many as 49% of Poles say that they do not use a bank account.

"The ‘Send Cash' service is a perfect solution for, among others, Poles who live and work abroad and often send cash to their relatives in Poland. Until recently they could, for example, make a funds transfer from their bank account with a bank in the U.K. to their bank account in Poland and then make another transfer to a bank account with another Polish bank. However, when the recipient did not have a bank account, our customers had a problem. Now a bank account with Citi Handlowy is enough for the cash to be delivered to the indicated address in Poland by a postman," adds Remigiusz Holdys.

Customers who want to send cash directly to the recipient's door should have a bank account with Citi Handlowy in Poland. If they live and work abroad, for example in the UK or the US, they can use instant Citibank Global Transfers and transfer cash between their accounts abroad and in Poland in real time. Then, they need to complete a postal money transfer form on Citibank Online and specify the recipient and the cash will be delivered to the indicated address in Poland by the Polish Post employee.

A postal money transfer can also be ordered by calling CitiPhone or by visiting Citi Handlowy branch.

The cost of the new service at Citi Handlowy is PLN 11 plus 1% of the transfer amount. The modern postal money transfer is free of charge for all customers who will order the "Send Cash" service via the internet until the end of May.
