Citibank Celebrates Branch Opening with Family Day & Contributions to Two Claremont Nonprofits in California

Presents $15,000 to Support Programs that Foster Small Business Growth, Teachers' Innovative Classroom Ideas & Financial Literacy

Claremont, CA – "The City of Claremont recently celebrated its 100th anniversary and we are thrilled to be a part of this community and look forward to providing our wide range of innovative products and services," said Marci Alvarez, Manager of Citibank's new financial center. "The financial center is located in the restored Old School House located in the heart of the city of Claremont."

In keeping with its tradition of community involvement and to commemorate the opening of its newest financial center, Citibank is holding a "family community day" on Saturday, May 3rd, at the center to welcome individuals and families and to provide financial education through fun and creative ways to children. Children's book author Sam X. Renick will be reading from his series of stories on teaching children the importance of saving "one dime at a time."

The bank is also presenting a total of $15,000 to two local nonprofits: the Claremont Chamber of Commerce and the Claremont Community Foundation.

"We recognize the vital role that these organizations play in serving families and small business owners, and in ensuring that members of the community have access to great programs that provide education," said Martha Urubio, Area Manager of the San Gabriel Valley. "We are committed to making a difference in the communities where we live and work."

Citibank is contributing $10,000 to the Claremont Chamber of Commerce to support the Claremont Small Business Training Program, which will help businesses learn more about access to capital, marketing and business development; and to support the Best Bet Teachers Grant Program, which will provide grants to selected teachers in the Claremont School District who submit requests to fund innovative, classroom-based programs.

The bank is also contributing $5,000 to the Claremont Community Foundation, to help launch the Financial Education Program at the House of Ruth. The House of Ruth assists women and children victimized by domestic violence by providing shelter, programs, opportunity and education. The new program will incorporate Citi's Financial Education curriculum, and some classes will be taught by representatives from the new financial center.

"Citibank is supporting these organizations because we share the goal of ensuring that all individuals have access to the tools necessary to build assets and long-term economic self-sufficiency," said Lisa Barrett, Southwest Division President for Citibank North America.

Citibank now has 20 full-service financial centers in the San Gabriel Valley and 212 financial centers in Southern California. More information on Citibank's 4,300 financial centers around the world is available at www.citibank.com.
