Brussels – Valéry Halloy (Trends Tendances) and Kurt Vansteeland (De Tijd) won the Citi Journalistic Excellence Award. The award aims to acknowledge outstanding financial and economic reporting. On the Dutch side, Vansteeland won with "Beurs brengt sinds 1832 jaarlijks 3.5 procent op," an article about research which looks at 175 years of stock history.

The winners will take a two-week international seminar at the prestigious Columbia University in New York. The seminar will also be attended by the award-winners from some 20 countries, as well as academics, media experts, policymakers and government officials. Visits are scheduled to the IMF, the New York Stock Exchange, CNN Financial News, the Wall Street Journal and Bloomberg Business News. In addition, the winner receives a cash award of 2,000 euros.
