The awards ceremony was hosted by Alfredo Harp Helu, Chairman of the Board of the Grupo Financiero Banamex, Enrique Zorrilla Fullaondo, Banamex CEO, and Josefina Vazquez Mota, Secretary of Education, as witness and guest of honor.

Thus, we are improving the quality of life of Mexicans – with educational tools that build a better generation, and management and optimization of economic resources."

Enrique Zorrilla affirmed that Banamex took upon itself this financial education task following its tradition of being committed to Mexican society. Banamex has always been able to identify and anticipate the country's needs, and provide useful tools to improve the quality of Mexicans' lives.

Josefina Vazquez Mota added, "I would especially like to thank Banamex and in particular my dear friend Alfredo Harp, for being a pioneer in this financial and economic education bet."

At the end of the ceremony the attendants visited the Saber Cuenta exhibit, displaying the materials developed during the last four years to meet educational and information needs in this area. The exhibit also displayed how appropriate these materials are with regards to the financial education gaps detected in the "First Banamex and National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) Financial Culture Survey in Mexico." Supported by this survey, Banamex created a direct relationship between the diagnosis of the educational situation in Mexico and the specific attention needed to overcome the gap with the aid of materials including books, manuals, brochures, comic books, table games, two theater plays, online and face to face training, the Banamex Financial Education Web page, as well as a variety of simulators and electronic materials.

Banamex created the social and educational program called Saber Cuenta in 2004. At present the program has over 50 partners in the public and private sectors alike, and directly benefits a million people. Saber Cuenta offers diverse educational tools available to a potential public of approximately 27 million people.
