Citi Private Bank is committed to offering the highest level of online security to our clients, and we are excited to offer you the Digital Key.

Privacy and security are cornerstones of Citi Private Bank's business.  Citi already uses the latest security technologies, including 128-bit encryption and a Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) connection to protect you and your privacy when you access our password-protected Web site.

Secure

Whether you’re logging on from home, the office or elsewhere, the Digital Key, when used with your User Name and Password, provides additional protection against unauthorized access of your online account information and from various forms of online fraud.

Simple

The Digital Key is simple to use. It’s a small device the size of a key displaying a random, time–sensitive six-digit security code that can be used only once, and it changes every 60 seconds. The code works with your User Name and Password each time you log on to the Citi Private Bank client Web site.

Strong

The Digital Key is a form of strong authentication, also known as two-factor authentication. Two-Factor Authentication is:

  1. What you know (User Name and Password)
  2. What you have (the Digital Key)

Together they provide additional measures against unauthorized access to your online account information on the Citi Private Bank client Web site.

Getting Started

To begin using your Digital Key, you need to complete the one-time activation process. You’ll need your current User Name, your Password and the Digital Key. The process should take only a few moments.

Step 1: Activate the Digital Key

  • Go to www.citiprivatebank.com
  • Proceed to the client Web site “Sign In” page
  • On the login page, click the Digital Key “Activate” link
  • Enter your User Name and Password and click “GO”
  • Enter your eight-digit serial number located on the back of the Digital Key
  • Click “Submit” and “Confirm” to complete activation

Step 2: Log on with the Digital Key

  • Go to www.citiprivatebank.com
  • Proceed to the client Web site “Sign In” page
  • Enter your User Name and Password and click "GO"
  • Enter your six-digit security code located on the front of the Digital Key
  • Click “GO”

How Does the Digital Key Work?

The Digital Key generates a random six-digit security code every 60 seconds. This code is tied specifically to your unique Digital Key. After you enter your User Name and Password, the six-digit code is verified against a secure server that knows the specific code that appears on your Digital Key at any given time.

Do I Always Need the Digital Key to Log On?

Yes. Once you activate your Digital Key, you will need your current User Name, Password and the six-digit security code generated by the Digital Key to access your accounts via the Web.

How Do I Log On if I Lose the Digital Key, or Don't Have it with Me?

You can report your lost Digital Key and obtain temporary access instructions through your regional Web Services and Support Team.

Are my Accounts Secure without the Digital Key?

Yes. We use state-of-the-art encryption methods to protect sensitive data. This program simply provides an additional layer of security.

Can I Turn off the Extra Security?

Certain regional regulatory agencies require two-factor authentication for accessing your online accounts. Call your regional Web Services and Support Team for further assistance.

What is the Life Expectancy of the Digital Key?

Your Digital Key has a battery life of at least three years. We will automatically send you a new Digital Key replacement at that time.

How should I dispose of my Digital Key?

If your Digital Key has expired, or for some reason you would like to dispose of a Digital Key, please do so at your location. Do not send your Digital Key via mail back to the Private Bank.

For further information, please contact Global Web Services and Support.
