Head of Human Resources
Since being named Citi's Corporate Human Resources Officer in July 2014, Mike Murray has served as the leader of Citi's culture initiative, focusing on leadership, mindset and open and candid feedback. As part of that program, he and his team have rolled out several efforts, including "Ethical Decision Making," "Leadership Matters – It Starts With Us," and "Be the Change." Together with Citi leadership, Mike also led the redesign of Citi's Leadership Standards, embedding them in Citi's hiring, development, assessment and promotion processes.
During the financial crisis and its aftermath, Mike led the redesign of Citi's compensation practices, driving a risk-balanced program across the firm that continues to this day. And he has spearheaded efforts to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of Citi's Human Resources function, with an emphasis on transformational change.
His prior roles with Citi include Global Head of Compensation, Benefits and Recruiting, Senior Human Resource Officer for Citi Alternative Investments, the Director of Benefits, Executive Development and the Director of Finance and M&A.
Prior to joining Citi in 1996, Mike was an employee benefits consultant specializing in international benefits.
He graduated summa cum laude with a B.A. in mathematics from Colgate University. He became an Associate of the Society of Actuaries in 1991 and an Enrolled Actuary in 1996.
