Chicago – Banking just got easier for Chicago residents, with the grand opening of a new Citibank branch located at 180 N. Michigan Avenue.

"The opening of this new branch demonstrates Citibank's commitment to provide our Chicago-area customers with cutting-edge access and exceptional customer service," said Mindy Mercaldo, Illinois Retail President and Citi Market President for Chicago. "Fully equipped with digital banking innovations and a multilingual staff, this branch was designed to enhance and simplify our customers' banking experience."

The Chicago branch is outfitted with Citi's globally recognized "smart banking" capabilities, which include digital innovations and enhanced image envelope-free ATMs. The new branch will serve retail, credit cards, small business, commercial banking, mortgage and personal wealth management customers with account opening and teller services. The branch also offers 24-hour ATMs, money orders and foreign exchange services.

Reflecting Citibank's global reach and Chicago's multilingual population, branch employees are available to assist customers in English, Spanish, Urdu, Hindi, Mandarin, Bosnian and Cantonese.

"We are extremely excited about the opening of this new branch, as it reaffirms Citi's commitment to the Chicago market," said George Wright, Midwest Region Director for Citi Community. "Citi has a long history of community involvement that includes programs and initiatives focused on increasing economic empowerment and growth for Chicago's families and communities."

Last year, Citi supported Mayor Rahm Emanuel's launch of the Chicago Infrastructure Trust with a founding investment commitment of up to $400 million to help modernize and rehabilitate the city's vast public infrastructure. Citi also funded and played a key role in helping to establish Mayor Emanuel's Chicago Microlending Institute, a first-in-the-nation institute that trains new lenders to make targeted loans to the city's smallest businesses. Citi is an active supporter of the Bank On Chicago program, and founded the Chicago Credit Building Coalition to expand financial inclusion for low- and moderate-income residents by complementing financial education programs with tools that support credit-building.

The branch, which celebrated a ribbon cutting with City of Chicago Treasurer Stephanie Neely, Cook County Bureau of Economic Development, Bureau Chief Herman Brewer, Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce, CEO Jerry Roper, customers, employees and community leaders, is part of the bank's U.S. branch optimization plan and one of five branches opening through February 2013. The bank presented a check to Mercy Housing Lakefront and After School Matters in support of continuing their mission.

Mercy Housing Lakefront provides formerly homeless, disabled, seniors and low-income individuals with affordable program-enriched housing to more than 3,400 families in Illinois and Wisconsin. For over 20 years, After School Matters has been providing Chicago public high school teens with opportunities to explore and develop their talents, while gaining critical skills for work, college and beyond.

"On behalf of the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce, I'm pleased to help congratulate Citibank on the official opening of their new Michigan and Lake Branch," said Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Jerry Roper. "Today's ribbon-cutting ceremony for our Chairman's Circle Member, Citibank, provides a tremendous opportunity for us to come together and celebrate Citibank's successes with creating jobs and expanding their services for the workforce and residents of our great city."

The branch is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.; closed on weekends. Customers can also bank through Citibank for iPad, Citibank (Kindle Fire Edition), Citi Mobile and Citibank online.

Now through December 31, 2013, as part of its opening celebration, the Citibank Chicago branch is offering a promotion for consumer customers of a cash bonus up to $250 and business customers a $200 cash bonus. Customers should visit the branch to learn the details and terms and conditions of the promotions.
