Citi Supports Panamanian Sustainable Farms Program

Donation under Patronato de Nutrición's Sustainable Farms Program coupled with support from Citi's Volunteer Committee

Panama City, Panama – Citi Panama has donated $2,584 to Tierra Viva, a farm in Mocambo, under Patronato de Nutrición's Sustainable Farms Program. The donation will be used to improve infrastructure in the farm's common areas and begin egg production to boost nutrition and income in the community.

Recently, a sizable group of Citi Panama volunteers, including General Manager Raymond Gatcliffe, joined Patronato de Nutrición staff on a visit to the farm, where they donated uniforms, shoes and school supplies to the community's schoolchildren.

Mocambo's Tierra Viva is the only Patronato de Nutrición farm led entirely by women.

"We intend to launch a comprehensive support plan to give these hardworking women the tools to grow together as a community and build a better future for their children," Gatcliffe explained. Twenty-four children ranging in age from 6 months to 14 years live on the Tierra Viva farm.

"Patronato de Nutrición is grateful for Citi Panama's efforts to support the women of Tierra Viva farm in Mocambo," a spokesperson for the non-government organization in Panama added. "Its collaboration is very important to encourage them to continue working to improve their quality of life and ensure a more productive future for their community."
