New York, NY CIO Magazine today named Citigroup a "CIO 100 Award" recipient. The 23rd Annual CIO 100 recognizes 100 organizations around the world that that have distinguished themselves in their use of information technology (IT). These companies exemplify the highest level of operational and strategic excellence in IT.
Citi's voice and data network infrastructure transformation, led by Yesim Akdeniz, Managing Director in Network Engineering, is one reason Citi was selected for the "CIO 100 Award" this year.
As a result of this project, Citi defined a global voice and data network strategy that is consistent across all regions. The project helped Citi reduce its global telecom budget approximately 25 percent over the last 3 years, while improving service quality, mitigating risks and supporting business growth requirements.
"All Citi businesses benefited directly from this initiative in terms of lower unit costs, improved service quality and innovative technology adoption for increased competitive edge in the marketplace," said Akdeniz. "And this cost reduction has enabled the businesses to redirect their capital towards other high priority areas."
"We are proud of this recognition from CIO Magazine and glad to be included on the list of innovative industry leaders," said John D'Onofrio, Citi's Chief Technology Officer. "The voice and data project that Yesim's team designed and executed is just one example of Citi's inventive use of IT to create business value."
The 2010 CIO 100 Awards will be presented in Rancho Palos Verdes, California, on August 24th during the 12th Annual CIO 100 Symposium®.
