As a global bank, Citi believes it is important for us to take a leading role in contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Private sector leadership in general is essential both to transition away from practices that undermine the goals’ achievement, and to proactively create solutions that solve existing challenges.
In September 2015, the 193 Member States of the United Nations adopted the new 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, including the SDGs. This set of universal goals calls on all nations to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all.
Citi has a role to play across all 17 goals, but there are several where we are well-positioned to drive significant progress based on our core business and specialized Citizenship initiatives. Our report-- Banking on 2030:Citi & the Sustainable Development Goals-- explores in detail the seven goals where we can have the greatest impact and provides a look into the ways in which we’re already delivering on the Global Goals and the areas where we will continue to invest.
