Citi Launches Citigold Global Banking

New York, NY – Citi today announced the launch of Citigold Global Banking, a new premium personal banking and wealth management service available exclusively to Citigold clients around the world. Launching today in 16 markets and in additional countries throughout the year, this new globally integrated offering provides seamless access to a wide range of financial services that fully leverage Citi’s unrivalled worldwide reach and expertise.

Among the new offerings, Citigold Global Banking will now make it easy for Citigold members to open bank accounts in a country they are moving to, instantly transfer funds between Citi accounts from one country to another, open a credit card account in a destination country, with immediate access to credit upon arrival, and dial one number from anywhere in the world to reach a Citi customer service representative.

According to recent data, more than 190 million people live abroad and more than 90 million work abroad, 3 percent of the world’s population and workforce, respectively. "The number of people travelling or relocating outside their home countries for business or pleasure, managing a sophisticated investment portfolio or studying abroad is growing rapidly," said Maura Markus, Head of International Retail Banking for Citi. "Our new Citigold Global Banking offering not only simplifies these customers' banking experience wherever they are or want to be, but also further strengthens our ability to anticipate and meet the needs of this fast-growing customer segment."

Markus continued: "As people move or travel around the world, they want to maintain their 'home' banking relationship, their credit and, above all, quick and easy access to their accounts. Today, Citigold Global Banking allows our customers to take advantage of these and other world class services, anytime and anywhere. Citigold Global Banking delivers a new level of value, performance and access that few banks in the world can match."

Citigold Global Banking combines new products and services with Citi’s existing offerings and packages them into a premium global offering that includes:*

  • Multi-country Pre-account Opening and Instant Fund Transfers: For those who live in multiple countries, have a child studying abroad, or simply find themselves maintaining financial interests in different countries, Citigold Global Banking makes it easy to open bank accounts in the destination country. Where local regulations permit, Citi will even open the account before they arrive. What’s more, Citi is the only bank to offer instant fund transfers – online and at ATMs -- across Citi accounts in 27 countries around the world.
  • Credit Transportability: Citi can leverage a customer’s credit history from their home to their destination country, helping them to obtain a credit card and have immediate access to credit upon arrival.
  • Toll-free Global Hotline (800-CITI-CODE): Citigold customers can contact their home Citigold Customer Service hotline via a single toll-free, global number to request assistance, access an account and conduct banking transactions, eliminating the need to remember different telephone numbers in different countries. Citi is the only financial services company to offer this service across 42 countries globally.

  • Global Recognition: Whether relocating, travelling or living in multiple countries, a customer’s Citigold status will be recognized from country to country so they will continue to enjoy their privileges wherever they may be. In many markets, Citigold customers are also automatically upgraded to Citigold Select status -- the only program of its kind in the industry
    -- when their investible assets with Citi reach US$ 500,000.

Citigold clients also have access to a wide-range of other exclusive services,* including:

  • Global Support and World Class Services: Citigold clients have access to logistical and emergency support through an unparalleled network of more than 4,300 Citibank branches in 43 countries. Citi has also established four Global Support Centers in Europe, Asia, North and South America with teams of specially-trained staff members to assist Citigold customers moving to new countries by offering personalized account opening assistance throughout the entire application process.   • Free Citigold Center Access: To help them stay connected wherever they are, Citigold customers have free access to 574 Citigold Centers in 36 countries, many of which feature lounges and meeting rooms as well as free use of telephone, fax and Internet services.
  • Multi-Currency Accounts: Citigold customers can open multi-currency accounts in 8 different currencies that enable them to take advantage of shifts in currency values and help them better meet their financial needs.

To support the launch of Citigold Global Banking, Citi will launch a print and online advertising campaign in 16 markets. The advertising campaign invites customers to have a “Gold Conversation” with Citi and is designed to raise awareness among the increasing number of globally mobile customers of all the benefits of a Citigold relationship.
