A representative office was opened in Almaty, Kazakhstan 

The bank was granted a full commercial banking license in Kazakhstan and expanded its services to corporate clients 

Citi expanded its presence in Kazakhstan with a branch in Astana – capital of Kazakhstan, broadening its service spectrum to state-owned corporations and financial institutions

Citi began providing direct custody and clearing services in Kazakhstan. Kazakhstan market was opened as 51st proprietary location within Citi’s unique Custody services network covering more than 62 markets.

Global Finance magazine named Citi the Best Corporate/Institutional Internet Bank in Kazakhstan and Euromoney named Citi the Best Cash Management Bank

Citi joined the Foreign Investors' Council (FIC) chaired by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, initially as an observer before becoming a full member in 2016 

Citi joined the Management Council of the Astana International Financial Center (AIFC), a permanent collegial body chaired by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan

Citi awarded the Long-Term Partnership Award by the Government of Kazakhstan. First female and Kazakhstani citizen assumed the role of Citi Country Officer. 

Citi Kazakhstan was recognized as the market leader and best service provider by the Euromoney’s Trade Finance and Cash Management Survey

Asiamoney magazine named Citi, for the fifth year in a row, the Best International Bank in Kazakhstan as part of their annual Best Bank Awards

Citi marked its 30th anniversary in Kazakhstan. Euromoney named Citi the Best International Bank in Kazakhstan.
