Citi has had a business presence in Poland since 1991. In 2001, a merger of Citibank (Poland) S.A. and Bank Handlowy w Warszawie S.A. took place to form Citi Handlowy, a Citi subsidiary (with Citi being a majority shareholder). Citi also has a presence in Poland through operations of Citi Solutions Center Poland (Citibank Europe Plc.), an initiative to establish a network of service centers providing services to other entities operating within the Group of Citi around the world, providing high quality operations, technology and infrastructure services to Citi's global businesses.
