Ernesto Torres Cantú

Ernesto Torres Cantú was appointed Citi’s Head of International in September 2023 and is a member of Citi’s Executive Management Team.

Ernesto is responsible for Citi outside North America, working in close partnership with all products and functions, to be the preeminent bank for clients with cross-border needs and a global leader in wealth management. His role also includes direct accountability for delivering industry leading risk and controls and providing comprehensive oversight of all legal entities across Citi’s International markets.

Ernesto joined Citi as a corporate banker and has a career of over three decades at the firm spanning several leadership roles. Most recently, Ernesto served for nearly four years as CEO of Citi Latin America. Under his leadership, Citi grew all of its businesses in Latin America and increased Citi’s leadership in the institutional business while maintaining a robust risk and control environment. From 2014 to 2019, Ernesto was CEO of Citibanamex and from 2012 to 2014, CEO of Citibanamex Consumer Banking.

Ernesto holds a degree in Industrial Engineering from the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM) and an M.B.A. from Georgia State University, Atlanta. He serves as a member of the Board of Trustees at ITESM.
