Best of Luck to Our VolunteerAfrica Team

April 01, 2016Manolo FalcoGlobal Co-Head of Banking, Capital Markets and Advisory,

This weekend, 12 of Citi's Analysts and Associates from across EMEA will embark on a very important journey that we have called VolunteerAfrica. We are really pleased that the team will be travelling to Africa for a month to work with entrepreneurs in Nakuru, Kenya who have aspirations to develop and grow their businesses.

When we designed VolunteerAfrica we were very keen to develop a programme that would see Citi volunteers leverage their skills to support economic growth and benefit communities in Africa, whilst also giving them the opportunity to grow personally and professionally. In VolunteerAfrica I believe we have built a pilot programme in partnership with VSO – a leading international development organisation that uses volunteers to fight poverty and reduce inequality - and our partner on the ground Balloon Ventures that meets these goals, and we look forward to the results.

Over the past month, the team has been busy preparing for departure which is now just around the corner. I know that all the preparation and research will be worth it when they arrive in Kenya this weekend.

We are looking forward to sharing in their journey as well, and to updates from the field in the month ahead on social media using the hashtag #CitiVolunteers.

We are proud of the team and wish them the very best during the exciting journey ahead!
