Opportunities For New York's Youth

In 2014, the Citi Foundation selected New York City as one of ten cities for its inaugural Pathways to Progress initiative. With a goal of reaching up to 100,000 low- income youth nationwide, this $50 million initiative is the largest ever undertaken by the Citi Foundation. By providing young people ages 16-24 entrepreneurship training, service opportunities, mentoring and summer jobs, Pathways to Progress aims to give young people the skills that they'll need to access a job early in their working lives, better-positioning them for their professional and economic future in our communities.

Pushing Progress Forward Through Affordable Housing

New York City has been our home for more than 200 years and Citi is committed to helping the city achieve the nation's most ambitious affordable housing program. In 2014, Citi Community Capital took the lead in the historic $350 million funding package to aid construction and preservation of 7,500 apartments.

After the financial crisis when others were retreating from the housing market, Citi helped arrange, fund and manage the New York Affordable Housing Preservation Fund, to acquire and renovate properties that are at risk of becoming unaffordable to low- and moderate-income families. The Fund has helped preserve thousands of New York City apartments, keeping them affordable for years to come.

  • 2010:Citi Community Capital provided over $500 million to help renovate and secure Federal assistance for 21 public housing projects with more than 20,000 apartments
  • 2014:Citi Community Capital took lead in a historic $350 million funding package to aid construction and preservation of 7,500 apartments
