Our FX solutions generate guaranteed pricing so that currency conversions can be locked in instantly, mitigating the risk of large exchange rate fluctuations The need to reconcile the large volume of incoming payments: Finding a mechanism to collect payments at scale is one challenge, but then reconciling those thousands of incoming transactions to the buyers who initiated them is a separate one entirely. We utilize detection and prevention technologies to keep our clients’ money safe, and offer additional security features that can be configured to suit their business The need to have payment format options: Certain ecommerce companies, particularly Online Travel Aggregators (OTAs), need to collect a credit card payment and pass that format of payment on to the end merchants. The ecommerce landscape has been growing exponentially over the last few years, with global industry revenues rising to $2.7 trillion USD in 2021. New entrants continue to disrupt existing business models as they find novel ways of reaching the customer. With growth only accelerating during the pandemic and projected to reach $3.5 trillion USD by 2025, companies in this industry must be extremely nimble and ready to scale at a moment’s notice. The problem: is their banking able to keep up?

How eCommerce Companies Can Scale With Ease

Yonatan Raz-Fridman, CEO/Founder, Supersocial is building games/experiences for the Metaverse which by 2030, in his view, could be worth $10 trillion and accessed by 80% of the humans and their 100bn virtual avatars. Yonatan describes the Metaverse as a device-agnostic, real-time, persistent, large-scale 3D immersive experience and for it to truly emerge it has to be open and interoperable. In the next decade, we will witness proliferation in the development and adoption of other Metaverse hardware devices e.g. AR/VR, PC/Console; but smartphones will continue to dominate as an interface layer for the Metaverse. However, for an inclusive and equitable next generation internet there has to be accelerated infrastructure development and access enablement (5G, devices, etc.) in developing economies as well.

Artur Sychov, CEO/Founder of Somnium Space joined Citi’s Ronit Ghose & Nisha Surendran to discuss the future of an immersive Metaverse. In his avatar form, Artur gave us a tour of Sominium Space, showcasing the community-built spaces and how NFTs enable incentives for users to build and trade digital assets. Artur is a VR enthusiast and believes the Metaverse should be spatial (AR/VR), decentralized and persistent. Artur claims that Somnium space is the first multi-chain Metaverse, existing on Ethereum and Solana and expected to integrate other blockchains too. Artur believes low latency is of utmost importance to support the spatial reality and experience the Metaverse in a pure form. Somnium space is device agnostic i.e. accessible via mobile, tablet, web, etc. Artur expects AR/VR to follow the trajectory of mobile phone adoption so it will become increasingly affordable as more companies start investing in building Metaverse-related hardware.
