Citi was named World's Best Bank for Corporates and World's Best Bank for Transaction Services by Euromoney, the preeminent global financial markets magazine, at its annual Awards for Excellence dinner in London on July 10.
The awards are widely considered as one of the most coveted in the banking industry and were decided by editorial panels.
"Citi's worldwide presence is proving an asset as new regional trading blocs emerge (…) Banks don't come much more global than Citi. The US firm has a local presence in 98 countries and works with firms across the world. Its corporate franchise is founded on helping multinational corporates expand globally, particularly into emerging markets, and on helping emerging-market companies grow beyond their home markets and regions," noted the editors, commenting on the bank's wins.
Additionally, Citi was recognized across a number of regional and country categories:
Tyler Dickson, co-head of Banking, Capital Markets and Advisory, commented:
"We are highly involved because we know the space so well. We understand the future value proposition of fintech and disruptors."
On being named World's Best Bank for Transaction Services, Naveed Sultan, global head of Treasury and Trade Solutions, said: "Our treasury and trade business accounts for very significant value for Citi. The value it creates goes well beyond what its financials reflect. "This goes to show just how central, just how important our cash and trade business is to the bank."
