Among Citi's many accomplishments this year, there is one of which I am particularly proud -- the 10-year anniversary of Women & Co. Over a decade ago, Citi sponsored a conference for executive women where we heard that women were looking for more support from financial services companies when it came to personal wealth management. An idea was born.
Since women have distinct financial realities -- they live longer, spend more years in retirement and take more time out of the workforce to care for family -- they need to have the information and resources to address their unique situation. Recognizing this dynamic, Citi launched a financial resource dedicated to women's financial realities, the first of its kind and a leader in the industry today.
When I was asked in 2000 to join Citi to develop Women & Co., I was exhilarated. A library of financial insight, a suite of financial tools and resources, a community of savvy women, a forum where we could share ideas, concerns and inspirations and they would be heard -- it was just the kind of business endeavor for which I'd been searching.
A decade later, Women & Co. continues to capture the attention of the media, consumer groups, financial colleagues at other institutionsand those who want to understand the power of our partnership with women and follow our lead within their own companies.
The community of Women & Co. is a vibrant and diverse group of women, unified in their pursuit of financial knowledge and driven to define wealth on their own terms. Propelled by a social paradigm of rising economic influence, women are moving themselves forward, their families forward and the global economy forward.
Over the next few weeks, you'll be hearing from some of my Women & Co. colleagues about Women & Co.'s forthcoming report, Looking Back. Moving Forward., a rich collection of insights about the economic momentum of women. The report draws from the best of the best of the Women & Co. community over the last decade -- our subject matter experts, proprietary research and financially-minded women. We hope you'll join us for a dialogue. Post your comments, share your insightsand keep the momentum going.
