Citi Australia has appointed Faraz Syed to its Economic research team.

Reporting to Citi Australia's Chief Economist, Josh Williamson, Faraz joins from Moody's Analytics where he was an Economist producing thematic analysis on domestic macroeconomic issues, and country forecasts for Australia, Japan and India.

Faraz also led Moody's research on Australia's housing market, including the econometric modelling for Core Logic-Moody's Analytics' Australian housing model. Prior to Moody's, Faraz worked as a research economist at the Australian Bureau of Agricultural Resources, Economics and Sciences.

Managing Director and Head of Research at Citi Australia/NZ, Craig Woolford, says Faraz's appointment will allow Citi to harness the breadth of expertise we have in financial markets globally and provide more tailored insights on the implications for Australia.

"Client demand for deeper insights about key macro-economic influences continues to grow in this low interest rate environment. We look forward to Faraz's experience strengthening our research insights at Citi."

Citi Australia's Equity Research function remains at the forefront of the debate in the Australian market with more than 160 ASX-listed stocks under coverage. Citi analysts hold top three rankings in key sectors including Energy, Diversified Financials, ESG, Retail, Transport, Property, Developers & Contractors and Steel.
