SYDNEY: Citi Australia today announced the appointment of Sara McKerihan as Vice Chair of Markets and Securities Services for Australia and New Zealand.

Ms McKerihan has relocated from Citi's New York office, to Australia, and will focus on growing the bank's strategic relationships with traditional asset managers, and sovereign and hedge funds in Australia and New Zealand.

Commenting on her appointment, Luke Randell, Citi's Head of Markets and Securities Services and Mark Woodruff, Head of Investor Sales said: "We are pleased to welcome Sara to our Australian franchise. Sara brings a unique combination of senior level client experience, extensive knowledge of Citi's products and services and people management skills acquired in an international setting over the past 25 years.

"During her career with Citi, Sara's held key positions in our global sales and trading organisation, most recently in Markets Relationship Management for Citi's largest investor clients. Sara's experience and insight will be welcomed by our clients as they continue to navigate heightened market volatility caused by the pandemic."

Citi's global Markets and Securities Services business saw significant growth in the first half of 2020, reporting fixed income revenues of $5.6 billion, up 68% from 2019. This was a result of strong performance across rates and currencies, spread products and commodities with record volumes of clients accessing the Citi Velocity platform and electronic execution capabilities.

Mr Woodruff says the activity generated in the first half of 2020 is expected to continue in the coming months: "These results follow consistent growth in both inbound and outbound client activity in recent years, and Sara's appointment will enable us to harness this market and mind share with our most important clients".

Ms McKerihan joined Salomon Brothers as a salesperson with responsibility for Central Banks in non-US dollar markets in 1989. She was appointed Head of Fixed Income Sales for Asia Pacific in 1999 moving to Hong Kong to manage the sales function for the region. In 2002, she relocated to New York to cover Global Hedge Funds within Fixed Income and in 2007 transitioned to the Global Relationship Management team.

Ms McKerihan has a Bachelor's Degree in Commerce from Newcastle University. She also serves on the Boards of 100 Women in Finance, the American Australian Association and the National Gallery of Australia.
