Citi Australia, in partnership with Taronga Conservation Society, has launched a campaign to support World Environment Day and encourage Australians to reduce their environmental impact.

World Environment Day is a UN backed initiative that encourages governments, businesses and citizens to address pressing environmental issues. It is a global platform to inspire change and build a greener future.

Through the campaign, Citi Australia is asking Australians: how are you reducing your environmental impact? Customers need to submit a photo documenting the measures they are taking, and the winning entry will receive an exclusive zoo package. This includes:

  • A two night stay for four people at the Wildlife Retreat at Taronga Sydney
  • An afternoon spent exploring 'The Sanctuary' a thoughtfully designed habitat at the heart of the Wildlife Retreat, home to koalas, wallabies, echidnas, and other unique Australian species'
  • Three-course dinner at Taronga's onsite restaurant, Me-Gal
  • Exclusive animal experiences including the seal meet and greet, giraffe encounter, capybara encounter, elephant encounter and the koala encounter
  • Plus a 'Zoo friends' annual membership

Commenting on the campaign, Citi Australia and New Zealand CEO Marc Luet said "It's important to use World Environment Day to ask ourselves what we are doing as individuals, and corporations, to build a better future.

"At Citi, we have a public commitment to help drive the transition to a low-carbon economy, as outlined in our 2025 Sustainable Progress Strategy. At the core of this is a commitment to finance and facilitate $250 billion in environmental solutions globally over the next five years, and $500 billion by 2030," Mr Luet concluded.

Taronga Conservation Society Australia CEO Cameron Kerr said: "At Taronga, we believe that we all have a role to play in taking care of and protecting our environment for the benefit of wildlife and people for centuries to come. Taking action towards a sustainable future is at the core of protecting wildlife and their habitats.

"We're delighted to work in partnership with Citi Australia who not only support us in our vital conservation work, but also help us to spread the word about how we as individuals can make all make a difference," said Kerr.
