Miami, Fla – In the 30th year of the Awards for Excellence, Euromoney, the preeminent global financial markets magazine, recognized Citi Latin America with three regional awards. Citi Latin America was named Best Bank for Financing, Best Bank for Transaction Services and Best Investment Bank in Central America & Caribbean.

On Citi's success, Euromoney wrote, "Citi's role in bringing sovereign deals was not just impressive but kept the financial wheels of the region turning. Citi brought Mexico, Peru, Panama, the Dominican Republic and Chile to the table as market appetite spiked back from initial falls."

"We are truly honored to be recognized by Euromoney as the Best Bank for Financing, Best Bank for Transaction Services and Best Investment Bank in Central America and Caribbean," said Ernesto Torres Cantú, CEO of Citi Latin America. "In a year marked by uncertainty due to the pandemic, Citi's focus on innovation and leadership in the execution of complex and transformative transactions—across the credit spectrum and geographies in Latin America—supported our clients each step of the way. The awards are an equal recognition of our talent and people, who continue to set the highest standards when it comes to financial services and client experience across Latin America."

"We believe that client experience is the driver of sustainable differentiation, and our Treasury and Trade Solutions team has been laser-focused on transforming its business to deliver a seamless, end-to-end client experience through digital capabilities, client advocacy, network management and service delivery across the entire region," he added.

Citi won Best Bank for Transaction Services in the region for the first time. This award honors excellence in Cash Management, Payments and Trade Finance services across the region. Euromoney selected banks that show innovation through technology and best-in-class financial performance.

"Three years ago, we set out to become the best digital bank and made strategic investments to digitize solutions. Today Citi has Latin America's most comprehensive platform value proposition, which has evolved from enabling clients' treasury digitization objectives, such as efficiency and transparency, to helping them compete in the digital economy," said Steve Donovan, Citi Latin America Treasury and Trade Solutions Head.

"Citi's transaction services in the region, led by Steve Donovan, have proven hugely popular, which is probably not a surprise given the rising need to work remotely. Also the digital services, which have cut account opening times to 48 hours, help Citi's clients by enabling the onboarding of their suppliers," Euromoney said.

In the 2020 – 2021 period, Citi was the bank that led the most capital market deals in Central America and Caribbean, with more than 80% coming from Panama, Guatemala, Honduras and the Dominican Republic.

"As a financial institution, we are honored to be recognized by Euromoney as the Best Investment Bank in Central America and Caribbean for the second year in a row, and we continue to focus to serve our clients through our digital solutions and services, helping them innovate and grow in the new digital contexts," said Marcelo Gorrini, Cluster Head for Citi Central America and Caribbean.

The Euromoney Awards for Excellence are recognized to be among the most prestigious in the financial services industry.
