Sydney – Citi and Citi Foundation have today pledged donations to support with flood relief efforts in Australia and the unfolding Ukrainian humanitarian crisis.

Locally, Citi has donated A$100,000 to the Australian Red Cross to support with flood relief efforts in Queensland and New South Wales.

Citi Australia CEO, Marc Luet, said: "We have been deeply saddened by the unfolding crisis in Queensland and New South Wales. The devastating impact on homes and businesses as well as the tragic loss of lives has touched us all personally.

"This 'one in 1000-year' flooding event has impacted the lives of our customers, employees, and family and friends and every day the effects of this natural disaster intensify. The Red Cross has a strong track record in times of crisis, and as a business we are proud to offer our support."

Citi Australia has also implemented hardship relief for approximately 100,000 customers who are impacted by the floods, including payment deferrals and fee waivers.

Globally, tensions with Ukraine and Russia continue to grow, and the humanitarian crisis is escalating rapidly. Citi Foundation, globally, has pledged US$1 million to support communities suffering from the conflict, working with Save the Children Foundation and International Rescue Committee, who are on the ground delivering aid.

"It has been heartbreaking to see the escalating violence in the Ukraine and the shocking loss of life and displacement of local communities," Mr Luet said. "Citi has local operations in both Russia and Ukraine, and we are concerned for our people in these areas, as well as the communities they serve.

"We have worked with the Save the Children Foundation and International Rescue Committee for years and they have a proven track record of making a positive difference when crisis strikes.

"I am truly inspired by the kindness and generosity of spirit we have seen from our Citi employees globally and the international community during this troubling time," Mr Luet said.
