Sydney – Citi Australia has today announced a range of volunteering opportunities as part of its Global Community Day initiative, which encourages employees to give their time in support of communities and partners.
Global Community Day is a worldwide Citi program, now in its 17th year, which provides an opportunity for Citi employees, family and friends around the world to gather as one to demonstrate a shared commitment to the communities in which they operate.
Locally, Citi employees will be able to volunteer for a range of initiatives across May and June without needing to take leave.
Citi Australia and New Zealand CEO, Marc Luet, said: "The theme of this year's Global Community Day is 'Recovery and Renewal' a salient theme and timely reminder for us all to reconnect, while making a positive impact.
"Locally, our team has already been hard at work, supporting our partner, Taronga Zoo Conservation Society, with a number of beach cleans, while learning about the impacts of micro-plastics and waste on our oceans and waterways.
"Across the next two months, we have a range of opportunities that we encourage our teams to get involved with, including mentoring, environmental initiatives, event volunteering, and clothing drives. I am proud that our team is committed and inspired to partner with these wonderful community organisations who are making great strides in supporting disadvantaged youth, vulnerable Australians, and those with disability."
As part of the Global Community Day events, Citi Australia has partnered with:
Taronga Zoo Conservation Society – Taronga is an iconic zoo, with a focus on scientific studies and practices that help to preserve biodiversity and nature. The beach cleans educate Citi employees about micro rubbish and the devastating impact it has on marine life.
Northcott Society – Northcott is a not-for-profit service providing empowering, personalised services to over 12,000 people with disability, their families and carers each year driven by their purpose to build an inclusive society where people can live the life they choose. Citi employees are supporting a clothing drive to help source corporate attire for Northcott's job seekers.
Paralympics Australia – Citi is supporting Paralympics Australia with running its Para Tough Cup competitions. Volunteers will also support a gala night recognising the achievements of Paralympic athletes, coaches and administrators, including the announcement of the Summer & Winter Paralympian of the Year.
Brotherhood of St Laurence – Citi will support the Brotherhood of St Laurence's Work Readiness Program, including interview preparation sessions and facilitating mock interviews. Brotherhood of St Laurence also operates 23 op shops throughout Victoria, as well as an online used-bookstore, and Citi employees will volunteer in the op-shop warehouse. All revenue from sales is used to deliver programs for people experiencing disadvantage.
Global Community Day is one of the many ways Citi shows its commitment to the communities where it has a presence. Citi employees are also encouraged to support community partners through additional volunteering throughout the year.
