ASUNCIÓN – Citi announced today the appointment of Héctor González Cabrera as the Citi Country Officer & Banking Head for Paraguay, as of December 8,2025. Mr. González Cabrera will report to Federico Elewaut, Banking Head for the South Cluster (Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay).
Mr. González Cabrera will be responsible for the in-country execution of the bank’s strategy, maximizing Citi’s business with clients present in Paraguay across all products and subproducts both locally and abroad to be our clients’ preeminent banking partner. He will also be responsible for fostering successful client relationships at all levels of the organization and protecting and enhancing Citi’s reputation in the country.
Mr. González Cabrera has an 18-year career at Citi, having recently served as Global Network Banking (GNB) Head for Citi in Costa Rica. His career at Citi began in Paraguay in 2007 as FX Sales for Markets and subsequently as a Risk Analyst. Throughout his career, he held various senior management positions in different geographies, including Risk Team Leader in the Consumer and Health area for Latin America, based in Argentina; Relationship Manager at Citi Uruguay covering Local and Multinational Corporate clients; and for Financial Institutions and NBFI (Non-Bank Financial Institutions) in Costa Rica, before being appointed Head of the multinational segment (GNB).
